The
Not So Early Days
Theme: The Not So Early Days was
a compilation CD of my early performed musical works. The music was originally
created in the years 1993 to 1998. The only real theme is my development
out of sound sculptures and works for solo instruments and nature sounds
to my first working knowledge of the modern orchestra. I had finished graduate
school, for now!
Experiences:Sound
Sculpture continued to influence me, but I was also moving toward a more
sophisticated form of music, the classical orchestra. My continuing education
in music school was providing me with a number of new experiences and ideas
that I was wanting to share with the world. I was writting work for Dance
and utilizing my synthesizer as much as I could. It wasn't until I was
finishing my M.M. that I was finally allowed to write a work for full orchestra
and full choir. This CD is taken from music of that developing period.
CD Information: Copyright
2000, The CD was remixed from the original master tapes and the computer
they were stripped to. I noted that the stripping process was the first
to fall out on the tapes. Some of the songs had to be re-entered into a
newer, more powerful, version of Cakewalk. I also worked very hard to make
sure I used copyright free sound bites. I downloaded only from sites that,
at the time, I trusted were telling me the truth about copyright free.
In my efforts to keep the copyright laws I have never received payment
for performance or download of any of these early works.

Early Days
Digital
Prozak - Sound Sculpture and Music -
Written for a compatition for an American Composers Forum program. It
later aired on the radio show Terra Musica and Minnesota Music Scene
throughout southern Minnesota and northern Iowa. The name comes from
a friend of mine who I first played the work for. I needed a name for
the work and I asked him for his thoughts. Immediately the words "Digital
Prozak" came out, the name stayed.
Kyrie - This
is a MIDI realization of my thesis for my Masters of Music. My thesis was
written for full orchestra and full choir, but I didn't have the money
to hire one for final recording. Maybe next time!
Amen - Written
as a musical interlude between the sections of a mass I was working on
it has the ability to stand on its own. You will hear a MIDI realization
of this work for voice and choir.
Electron
Symphony - Dancing electrons within
silicon chips creates an unusual symphony. Written, in-part, for a project
for music school. After the project I expanded it and permiered it a
year or so later. I use a number of microtones in the original recording.
Water
Works - This work started with the ideas
I created in a previous project called "Mindscapes of the Vernal
Equinox." I was writing a work for the Mankato State Dance Ensamble
- Dr. Julie Kerr - Berry director when I came up with Mindscapes. After
some "musicial fitting" of the original ideas this is the final
project that eveyone danced too.
